About Me
Ginnette Wafford is currently employed as an English teacher in the Garland ISD. She will complete her M.A. in English in the fall of 2015. Since the tender age of four, she has loved ballet. To this day, she continues to be mesmerized by the fluidity of movement and amazed by the effortless leaps and lifts of the dancers. In the back of her closet, at the bottom of a blue plastic bin, inside a folded ballet skirt are her original and final pair of toe shoes she wore. She hopes her own daughter will someday share her passion and express an enthusiasm for the grace and beauty of ballet.

Inspiration
In deciding to create a digital story, I considered a plethora of events in my life. Consciously I chose to write about a happy time in my life that involves both my childhood and adulthood. My inspiration came from simply looking up. Sitting on my shelf were some ballet figurines I have collected since I started ballet at the age of four. I knew I had to share one of my proud moments. When I was just thirteen years old, I was working on mastering a pirouette on pointe. Suddenly, I was forced to quit my dance lessons and leave ballet behind. My parents could no longer afford the costly tuition. Many years later, I resumed ballet as an adult and finished what I had started.

Course
As a graduate student at Texas A&M - Commerce, I enrolled in English 697, Digital Storytelling for the winter 2015 session. Dr. Shannon Carter conducted the course online. Two textbooks were used to supplement Dr. Carter's lectures and notes. The first is Digital Storytelling Capturing Lives, Creating Community by Joe Lambert, and the second text is Old Friend from Far Away by Natalie Goldberg. This website contains my final project for this course.
